apostasy / salvation / soul winning

How do you know if you are saved?

I believe there are a whole lot of folks who really feel they are saved and yet they are as lost as the rich man who is burning in hell today, Luke 16.
I am primarily writing about those who have made a profession of faith.

For a long time now I have been confused over many who have made a profession of faith.  They have bowed the head and applied Romans 10:9-10, and yet they have never worshiped Jesus as God the creator of this world.

Every Christian should love the Lord Jesus with his whole heart and soul.  He should worship Him, and because Christians love Him they have an unquenchable desire to brag about Him every time they can.  In fact those who have received Jesus as their Lord and Saviour have also received God the Holy Spirit in to their body, and therefore they have a constant tugging to adore Jesus, the Son of God.  However, many who have obeyed Romans 10:9-10 are not faithful in Church, indeed most don’t ever go; they never even read the Bible, so how can they worship and adore Jehovah Jesus?

The song Chicago is an example of the difference between Bible conversion and modern day conversion.
[Actually, modern day conversion is an oxymoron – meaning you are a spiritual moron if you believe in it, and you are no better then the “name it and claim it” Kenneth Copeland crowd.]

The song Chicago contain the lyrics

“Chicago, the town Billy Sunday couldn’t shut down.”

When Billy Sunday and his contemporaries like Moody and Finney, preached back in the early twentieth century they went into towns and preach the gospel to the crowds.  As a result, their converts were changed.  Houses of ill repute and bars  and gambling houses shut down because those converts no longer embraced the world
[Romans 1: 29-32].  Not so today.

If someone makes a false confession of faith that is not their fault.  That is our fault.  We go down the Romans road in a rush because we want to get to Romans 10:9-10.  Just bow your head and pray.  But until a person knows for sure they are a sinner going to Hell where they will for sure burn and burn and burn, they cannot be saved because to be saved one must have something to be saved from.

I love the song amazing Grace where the lyrics read

“It was grace that taught my heart to fear

and fears my soul relieved.”

It was sin – yours and mine – that sent Jesus to the cross. We are not saved to sin.  Jesus never paid the price for my sins so that I could continue to look and act and enjoy the world.  DUH, that is elementary, common logic makes it an axiom.

Okay I am getting off the trail here.  This is about those who really feel they are fine, yet they never go to a good independent King James Bible believing Church or any other.  They live as they always lived and do what they always have – that is they please themselves.

Is there a test you can give to yourself so you can know for sure that you will not go to Hell.

I believe there are a few of them all centering around
2Co 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

However I want to point out a specific reason for you knowing that Jesus is your Lord and Saviour.

For one to qualify for salvation they must know that they a sinner.
Rom 3:10  As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Next they need to know that they as a sinner will be cast into Hell

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Those who are lost need to know that they are helpless to help themselves

They need to know that every living person needs a Saviour.

They need to know that unless a person accepts the blood sacrifice of the Lamb of God, they are under His wrath

John 3:36  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Okay, nothing new here.  It is the Bible way of salvation and there is no other.

Joh 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

There is a test you can give yourself as to your salvation.

Here it is

In order to get saved you must realize that you along with every other person are ungodly – that is because of sin you are without God –  in need of salvation.

If you do not have conviction about your personal sins and the sins of every other lost person then you are lost.

No need to make it hard, it’s simple.

OKAY, here it is

If you have no concern for you wife, husband, children mom and dad, then why not?

Are they going to Hell?

If they are lost then, yes they are.

Mat 28:18  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Mat 28:19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mat 28:20  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Jesus doesn’t want your loved ones, your kids. your friends going to Hell.

So if you are saved then why don’t you care?

How did you get saved?

That is exactly how they need to be saved unless you are ungodly yourself, and therefore never did get saved.

2Pe 3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

I know you may feel some trepidation about talking with loved ones and friends, then when you do they can get caustic with you, however there are just too many who have bowed the head in a sinners prayer and have never even been convicted about loved ones and friends going to hell.  What’s up with that?  Does that even make sense?  Not to me it doesn’t.

Why haven’t you even been concerned about them going to Hell?  You do believe that without the Blood Jesus shed on the cross you would be cast into Hell, don’t you?  If you got saved you do.

This post is not about getting your family and friends saved.  Its about if you are saved or lost and Hell bound.

If you have no concern about anyone’s eternity then you probably are not saved.

If you are saved then you are one of the most callused, rotten, ungrateful Christians who ever lived.  I personally believe that keeping mum about the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is the worst sin a Christian can commit – the very worst sin a Christian can commit.

If you are not marching in the Lord’s army then you are a traitor to your Lord and Saviour, and you can’t march in His army unless you sign up at the local independent King James Bible believing, sin hating, Christ loving, people loving, Baptist Church

If none of this has any effect on you.  That you believe your wife or husband and your kids will be okay.  That a righteous loving God will never cast them into Hell then – my friend – you are going to be with them in that pit of terrors.  JUST STOP lying to yourself.  If you are not saved then get saved before it is too late for you and everybody else you love.

  1. No doubt there are so many church goers who have been deceived, distracted, blinded and lied to by the devil into assuming they are saved. I WAS SUCH A ONE. But one day a Spirit filled Preacher read scripture from the King James Bible and it was accompanied by the Holy Spirit. I realized my lost condition and need for Jesus whom I called upon and placed my faith and trust in at that time. Also other christians had been praying for me. That was 35 years ago. We need more Spirit filled christians praying for others and sharing Gods word so that God can do his work.

  2. Your comment: “if you’re not saved, then get saved.” I don’t think you can get saved unless the Holy Spirit is working and convicting you. You can’t just get saved – I think you have to truly be convicted and that’s the only way it is real.
