NOW FOR THIS WEEKS POST – “ABOUT HELL”
Hell is not the final place where unforgiven sinners will spend eternity, but don’t get all excited about that because you don’t get a get out of hell free card – life is no game of monopoly.
Revelation chapter 20 tells us that those lost souls will get out of Hell only to go before the great white throne judgment where they will be judged for rejecting God’s son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Then, after that, they will be cast alive into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Is your name written in the book of life?
God loves His Son therefore if you are in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, then God also loves you and He writes your name in His book of life. You get in God’s Son only by being born again. There is no other way. Get that down if you don’t get anything else get that.
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him
Those who believed that there are many roads to heaven, will go into the lake of fire. Think about it. God sent His Son to the cross so that you could be in heaven, and you reject that! What are you stupid or something?
Heb 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
Let me answer that Bible question – YOU WONT ESCAPE. Still not convinced, read Matthew 7:21-23, don’t be scared to read it because it is part of the sermon on the mount that everyone loves, you know the “blessed are” beatitudes in chapter 5.
I do not know your spiritual condition. I do know that most people reject simple Bible truth. They just kind of cherry pick, chucking what they don’t like.
How often have you read the Bible? Have you ever looked up “God helps those who help themselves”?
It isn’t in the Bible. Perhaps some would put a “!” behind that last sentence.
I’m just saying your eternal future hangs on John 3:16 so shouldn’t an intelligent, wise person find out why John 3:16 tells us that “God so loved the world” then in the last verse of that very same chapter we read that if you don’t believe what Jesus did to get you to heaven then God’s wrath is what you get – NOT HIS LOVE.
When you think about it, if someone called you a liar you would not settle the matter with a friendly hand shake; unless, of course, he was a huge tough guy, and you didn’t want to get beat-up. God is able to beat you up, hurt you and then cast you into Hell – Which He will do if you disrespect His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
I hear people say, “I’ll be damned” or “I’ll be go to hell”, yes they probably will. I also hear people say, “go to hell” which is often said in anger.
It would be kinder to tell them to go get cancer and die a slow painful death then to pray they will die and go to hell.
I know that many use that phrase flippantly. The word Hell today is such a trite word that the majority no longer even believe there is such a place. Preachers don’t preach it. And yet to not believe in a Scriptural Hell is to call the Lord Jesus a liar because He said that is where every unrepentant person will surely go.
Those who believe the Bible should feel obligated to warn others. If you say, I believe and yet you fail to warn your loved ones then you are worse then an unbeliever. Shame on you. What is the matter with you? Are you ashamed of the gospel? Paul sure wasn’t.
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Jesus many times used various examples to teach about Hell. Often He used a picture of the local garbage dump as an example of Hell. That ugly place was called Gehenna, and it burned continually. The stink of raw garbage and burning flesh must have caused many downwind to gag. Maggots were every ware. And on the perimeter were the lepers, called the unclean. It doesn’t take much imagination to picture those lepers with tears and in total depression as they knew there was absolutely no hope for any of them.
The Jehovah Witnesses use the fact that Jesus referred to Gehenna as Hell to teach that Hell is not eternal nor is it flaming punishment. Their members believe that the Watch Tower is the only honest source of truth, so they neglect to compare Scripture with Scripture.
Here are some verses where the Greek word “Gehenna” is translated “Hell” those Bible verses show the true real reality of Hell.
They are – Matthew 5:22,29-30; 10:28; 18:9; 23:15,33; Mark 9:43,45,47; Luke 12:5;
Another example of Hell is found in the Gospel of Luke, the sixteenth chapter verses 19 through 31. In that passage Jesus tells of two people, Lazarus and a rich man.
Lazarus was a beggar full of sores and he was entirely dependent on the mercy of the rich man. The fact that this wretched beggar, full of sores and most likely smelling very badly, was permitted to even get near this rich man speaks of his kindness. If you are not familiar with Luke 16:19-31 then I urge you to read it now before continuing.
Let me ask you something, if you had to make a choice which would you chose to be, the rich man or the beggar? The rich man of course, I mean who chooses to be a sore infested starving beggar? I would, I take the beggar every time, for me it is a no brainer because I believe what Jesus taught in the 16th chapter of Luke. They both die – sooner or later we will all die – and the rich man died and “being in torments” … And Lazarus, After many years of living a life of abject poverty also died but Lazarus is now forever rich.
Not because he was a pathetic beggar but because he repented of his sin.
Being poor or being rich will never be the deciding factor if you will spend eternity in Heaven or live under God’s wrath forever.
Luke 16:27 Then he [the rich man] said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him [The begger, Lazarus] to my father’s house:
Luk 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Luk 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
Luk 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Luk 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
The religious world teaches that there are many roads to heaven. They tell us that their God is not so evil as to send them to Hell. They say, “I am not a bad person.” They ask, “What about those who have never heard the gospel?” They ask, “How about those of other religions who are true to there religious beliefs?” Here is a headline – God doesn’t grade on a curve. If there is a standard to measure each person it is Jesus and neither YOU nor I will measure up.
Many believe the religious teaching that there are many roads to Heaven.
But Jesus said in his “Sermon on the Mount” message,:
Mat 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Mat 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
I include the next verse in hopes that you will read the Bible to get the truth.
Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Are you more just then God? Will you condemn God for sending to Hell all those who have not received His Son as their Saviour? That would include your kids and friends.
The Bible has a lot to say about those who think they are more righteous then God.
Job 35:2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?
Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
Readers if you are still with me then most likely you are interested in escaping Hell. My pastor just preached a sermon on Heaven. He then gave the alter call. That is a time at the end of the worship/preaching service for those who would like to come forward and pray about personal decisions they have made because of the preaching. It is also a time when those who are lost can come forward and meet with a personal helper who will take the Bible and show them the answer to the question the Philippian jailer asked in Acts 16:30. “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? The thing about all that is why some refuse to come forward. Why do they choose Hell over heaven? Why do they believe Hollywood, religion, and friends instead of God? The answer to those questions is in the Bible.
If you refuse to read the Bible so you can go on believing lies – If what God’s Holy Son did for you means nothing, then you deserve Hell.
Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Rom 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Rom 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Rom 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
The Ruckman Bible note on Romans 5:8 is –
“Verses Romans 5:6 and 8, define the “love of God” for sinners. “LOVE” is God’s nature (1st John 4:8), but He does not love indiscriminately. God not only “hates the sin” (modern cliché), He also “hates the sinner” in his sins (Proverbs 6:16-19; Hosea 9:15; Malachi 1:3). The verse doesn’t say God loves the sinner (present tense) ; it says He offers His love to the sinner. God showed (past tense) His love to lost mankind at Calvary (John 3:16). Outside of that, He has no love for a world that is evil (Galatians 1:4) and is under His wrath (John 3:36; Psalms 7:11). God’s love for the sinner is never separated from His Son’s sacrifice.”
